Fabric Depression

nofabric

I am going to join Vicky in the “Great Fabric Depression of August 2006″ and not buy any FABRIC at all in August. I have, however, already planned on a purchase of 90″ wide bolt of Warm N Natural. I sold two computers that were sitting around collecting dust to pay for it, so it doesn’t count anyway. You may snag the above button if you wish. I am also made some smaller ones; choose your size.

I updated my photos of my Laser Lemon blocks - they are much easier to see now. While I was at it, I took new photos of my other Jane blocks.

Since the Jane blocks are in my new Google Web Album, I thought I would talk a bit about it. I have to say, that is one of the better albums I have seen. It is in conjuction with the new Picasa Beta - very easy interface. I will still use flikr for uploading to the blog, only because of the wordpress plugin. If wordpress had an interface like blogger does (blogger’s quirks were too hard for me to deal with), it would be ideal. I wouldn’t be surprised once the Google web album went public, that there will be a wordpress pluging for it. The next step is to see if my dad can view the photos in the google web album - that is the REAL test!

I removed the stash-quilts webring from the sidebar. They have gone back to the old ring server and since I wasn’t on the waiting list before, I doubt I will get on the ring now. I still read many on the ring, and many of you that read my blog may be on the ring too. I guess that will have to be ok.

Linda_J: Yes… I prefer the Quilt of Valor with the lighter strips also. I doubt I would have chosen any of those fabrics at all - but like you said, they were kitted up. I am just glad I was able to help out. I got the bolt of fabric that I ordered for QOV today. I have not opened it yet. I should, but it is wrapped so neatly and I don’t want to mess with it. Plus, it is easier to hide it from my husband wrapped - I know I am a bad girl!!

Well- hopefully everyone has a good weekend. Tomorrow is clean day - have already told the kids to prepare for it. We will see how much gets done. As long as it is clean by Monday I am not really going to be too much of a stickler…

  1. I like the idea of issuing a moratorium on fabric purchases for a month. I will just spend some time gathering the will power required to do so! My DH just walked by and saw the “No fabric purchases” image in your post and says he “enthusiatically approves of the idea”. :)
I love your Dear Jane blocks. They are very tempting - but I’ve thus far resisted the urge to start on a DJ project.

  2. Had to check out your blog when I saw your great peach photo on a comment about Rian’s spider web on her CQ fan. Your blog is as fascinating as your photo. I love that pink and black block below, that you thought you might redo. It looks great to me! Keep on quiltin’.

  3. Love your ring description..also, put you on my to-read list. You’ve got some neat ideas!

    Keep up the good work.

  4. I love the button you created! Thanks so much for being willing to share - I put it on my blog. Maybe that will send more visitors your way!

  5. [...] I have made a few quilts from those swap fabrics since that first August No-Buy challenge that Vicky started. I have made a Quilt of Valor with my reds and blues and I have started a Weedwhacker Star with my purples. [...]
