I couldn’t stand it. I called sony yesterday to confirm that they are sending out the check as promised. They indeed stated that it was going to be sent out on the 11th.
We went up to the Navy Echange and put a new camera on home layaway. Very few exchanges have the ability to do home layaway - but it is great. You have 6 months to pay off your purchase. There is only a 3% service fee - but since there is no tax on the purchases there (also another reason we buy big purchases at the NEX) it isn’t horrible.
I bought a Kodak P880. You can click the picture to go to the product page.
I also purcased a 2 GB card, a bag, and an extra battery.
I have only taken a few photos with it, but it is amazing.
It is what they call a “bridge” camera. Not quite a DSLR, but not a point-and-shoot. I can attach different lenses to it and change settings, but it also has automatic features.
This photo (sized smaller) was taken from across the room, low light, with just a flash - cropped from the original:

The block is my first Weed Whacker Star. That is what I calling it. If I would have paid attention and put the pink in the right place, it would have gone really fast… But I had to rip the pink out and then rip out the opposite cream triangle and sew them on again opposite sides.
That one block took most of my time on Thursday to do - because of the error.
The cat in the photo is Sushi. She is very skittish and really hates to pose for the camera. I was able to get another good photo of her from across the room:

Love the explanation of “lay-away.” In the South when I was growing up it was “lay-by,” which I sort of like better. Lay-by is long gone and lay-away is pretty much relegated to WalMart these days. Too bad. Mother always joked that teaching her daughters about lay-by was a very important life tool.
Congrats on the new camera!
The new camera you purchased takes excellent pictures! Good choice!
One great camera and I love the blocks too. What is the pink one, top left in the pictures?
So glad to hear you have a new camera and that life is a little bit better in that regard!
Cute kitty! (Great name Sushi…) I have a PIGS quilt hat will be called Sushi - the main print is a fish print, but I am going to cut it - without regard to the fish - so they will end up chopped up like sushi!
Love your wheed wacker star block. The colours you have used is so beautiful togehter. I love your version of the block.
