Stash Bustin’

This year I will be participating in stash busting again. I invite you to join in.

The rules are simple - No frivolous fabric purchases. Only buy fabrics you need to finish a quilt. It will be on the honor system. Each month I will have a “badge” for you to display on your blog - you may even use my code, but if you decide not to, please link to me for the credit.

Badge from A Peach in Stitches

The code is as follows, please change the { to < and } to > :

{center}{img src="http://peachquilting.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/jan-nobuy.jpg" {br}Badge from {a href="http://peachquilting.com/2007/01/13/stash-bustin/"}A Peach in Stitches{/a}{/center}

Please note that the border around the image above will not show on your blog - it is just part of my blog template.

Now, my question is this: of those who participate, would you like to have to contribute a FQ to a “pot” if you fall off the wagon. We could make it where if you don’t fall off the wagon, your name will be put in a drawing for the end of the year to win the “pot”. We can hammer out details - please suggest here if that is something you want to do - or if you just want to declare that you are a “Fabric Diet” participant and display the badge.

Let me know what you think.

  1. I love your badge, and I’m with you. I MUST stash bust this year. I said this last year but fell of the wagon 2-3 times. I also added up the total cost of my three BOM’s plus the charm club I was in - couldn’t believe the total! I have fabric on the floor waiting to be washed and no place on the shelves to put it. I’m really going to attempt to stashbust this year!

I’ve “borrowed” your code - thanks so very much for your generousity - and of course I will credit you. As soon as I’ve got it working. Right now it looks like I must have goofed somewhere when replacing the braces with carrots because everthing is there put the picture itself. I’ll have to look very closely, but that might not be until after dinner.

  2. OK - I got it. I think the code you published in you blog repeats part of the code twice, and that was causing the problem.

Thanks so very much! You are always so generous with your sharing!

  3. Thank you so much for the button Kim, I’m going to use it and keep going on the stashbusting.
    *hugs*

  4. My goal for this year is to work on my UFOs and at the same time use my stash so your “no buy” button is perfect for what i want to achieve. Thanks for sharing

  5. OOoooooo! I need to start AFTER I return from retreat! I’ll be with you in spirit but we have NO quilt shops here any longer and will be visiting a lovely one in Houston…….

  6. Thanks Kim, I saw the badge on Patti’s site and I put it on mine with your link attached! Thanks for letting us use this badge. I have to do this for most of this year..because I have run out of storage space and it’s just getting worse! I plan to keep going after January so I’d be cool to have a badge for the whole year!

  7. I had a mini splurge whilst in the UK, but now that I am back home I seem to have lost the urge to buy fabric and, would you believe it, haven’t seen anything that has shouted at me to buy it.

Have copied your badge and will add it, and the link to your site, later.

  8. I am in! It is one of my goals for 2007 as well!
And ofcource i would credit you. But your code is not “working”
Would you be so kind and e-mail it to me?

  9. I’m also in. I had a splurge just last week before I saw the Fabric Diet button. I’ve joined you and I haven’t even received the fabric that I purchased!

  10. So how do you like your new blog site? Better, easier than blogger? Thanks for the recent encouragement on my Snowflake’s border situation…I’m happy with the unique twist it gave the quilt.

  11. I was having trouble getting your blog for awhile there. It seems to be okay now.

I’d better be the one in the crowd that keeps the quilt stores in business this year — it will be a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

I am saving for retirement. If I buy all my fabric now I won’t have to spend my retirement income on fabric - that’s what I tell my husband.

  12. You got me at stash busting…

    gotta do it!

    Where do I sign up?

  13. Please count me in! What’s the ante?

And thanks so much for the January badge. I’ve added it to my site, but let me know if I need to do more.

  14. Okay, I’m in!
I had this resolution on my list for this year, and now I can be reminded of it! I’ve also added the badge to my site. Will the botton change every month, or do we have to keep a look out for it?
