B-I-N-G-O!!!

Or should I say “quilto”??

Last night was my quilt guild’s January meeting. We played Quilt Bingo. Fons and Porter magazine had an issue where they made fabric bingo card instructions and that is what my guild did. You had to make your cards out of fabric stash and when they called out a fabric type you had to put a button on it. Click on photos to make larger.

I made these two cards. A friend was supposed to show up so I made her a card. She never showed up, so I played both cards (it was allowed). The card that won was the card that I made for my friend. I guess I should give her the prize, but I am going to be selfish and keep it!What was it you asked? It was a $50 gift certificate to “Quilting by the Sea” in Langly - a good hour drive south of here, but that is fine, it is worth the drive. I may, however, wait until my husband gets home in March (??) to go down and make a day of it. I also could wait until the fab-shop hop in June. I don’t know. It is already burning a hole in my pocket! It doesn’t have an expiration date, so that is great! Isn’t it a neat design on the gift certificate?
I also got a door prize. For $1 members take turns bringing in a door prize to raffle off that are worth $8 or more. It is great fun and I have won a few times. I actually didn’t win this month, but another member gave me the 6 fat quarters she won. In October, she was coveting some Halloween themed FQs and I won them - so I gave them to her - it wasn’t like I would use them anyway. Well these were right up my ally - they are beautiful!!
And for those who were waiting anxiously to see what I was making in this post - the unveiling of the retreat block. It is not an original design, but I did draft it in EQ6 and write the pattern for it for the guild retreat.

  1. I love the bingo cards… sounds like a fun guild activity…

  2. Awesome on the gift certificate, everyone loves those! The bingo cards are darling :)

  3. Is that gift certificate fabric? For real? What a neat idea!

  4. What a great thing to win. I would like to go to that quilt store in Langley one day - I’ve heard good things about it, and the area.

  5. We’re doing that for our March meeting at Guild. I’m looking forward to it and now that I’ve seen your blocks and I saw a couple at this week’s Guild meeting I’m all motivated to make mine. We’ll be able to play with a maximum of 3 boards and once the evening is over we’ll be sewing all the boards together and making “comfort quilts” for which our Guild is known. They’ll make lovely bright quilts - don’t you think?

  6. I love the way your photos enlarge when you click on them.

Now don’t go spending that gift certificate on fabric *vbg*.

  7. The Bingo Cards are great. I am Vice President of our guild Crossroads to Texas Quilt Guild, I am looking for instructions on how to make the cards and how to play the game( how it would be called and etc…. the ladies would love this as a program and fun night with fellow quilters. Always looking for something new to bring to our guild!!! We are in need of some changes, it’s been awhile since we brought new ideas to the board. Thanks for the great idea and help. Sandi

  8. Sandra — I wish I could help you more. Our VP (of that guild) found the instructions in a Fons & Porter magazine (and the pull cards are online at their site). Maybe you can write to them for the instructions - it was published in a magazine probably in an October or so issue of F&P (of 06) because I remember her talking about it a few months prior to the Jan meeting.
