Red, White, and Bold!

Back at this post, I gave you a sneak peak:

I finished the top a couple of weeks ago and just have not posted it. Too many things going on. I really like the pattern - even though I kinda lifted it off a website and drafted it myself. I have sort-of justification for it though. The pattern was only available in a kit, which I was already getting a jelly roll and a layer cake of the fabric line. I thought it would work out magnificently in the Red, White, and Bold! jelly roll by Moda. I wanted a quilt that was slightly bigger than the one shown, so I ordered two of the jelly rolls.

Sorry the photo isn’t great; it was taken at the guild meeting and the angle was bad.

Now to sandwich and quilt it.

  1. Great quilt! Our guild is making blocks like that for Linus quilts. It’s wonderful to have a simple pattern based on 2-1/2″ strips.

  2. What a great quilt Kim !

  3. What a smashing quilt! I didn’t know such a beautiful thing could be made with jelly roll strips! You website looks good, too.

  4. Cheri - Thank you! Yes the pattern was soo simple.

  5. Thank you Hanne!!

  6. Rian - Thank you. I love jelly roll strips, they are so easy to work with… most of the time.

  7. Very BOLD and FABULOUS :)

  8. I love it! I am getting the fabric to do one like that. DId it only take a jelly roll and a layer cake to complete the top?

    Thanks for sharing,
    Patty

  9. Helen - thank you!!!

  10. Patty - it was two jelly rolls - I suggest you cut each block out first before any sewing. I had three leftover blocks, but if you cut out a little more carefully than I did, you might get a few more.
