Crash!!
My laptop crashed yesterday. I have lost everything on it.
I did a backup of all my photos a month ago, but I lost Easter photos and a few others that I hadn’t backed up yet.
The worst part of the crash is that I lost all my free patterns that I had downloaded over the years and all of the patterns and quilts I had designed - a lot that hasn’t been shown yet. I will not put anything on the hard drive of my laptop again - it will all go strait to the external hard drive.
So I will be scarce as the laptop has to go into the shop to be fixed; I couldn’t even make the recovery disk work it crashed so hard. Good thing it is still under warranty!!!
UPDATE :
When my husband woke up from working all night, he did something to the battery and I was able to boot it up. I immediately grabbed the external drive and saved all my information. I am still sending it in for repairs, but at least I have saved my files. Whew… disaster salvaged.

Kim, I’m soo sorry!! It’s just awful to see/read these kinda of things happening. We all love and use our computers to the fullest, but don’t realize how much we trust them. I think I need to back up my stuff this afternoon.

I have had this same thing happen to me…I now try to back things up on a regular basis (which reminds me I need to get to it again). One thing that helped me was I went back through my email sent box and deleted stuff and I had attached some of my files to send to myself at my other email address and so I was able to revover some of the missing stuff. Not sure if you have emailed anything to anyone (ask them to re-email it to you) or to yourself, but a suggestion just in case. E Hugs to you too…smile.

glad you saved the files - I’ve lost photos because I’ve gotten lazy about backing them up and it’s terrible to know you’ll never see them again.
Oh boy! I’m so glad you were able to recover everything. I know you must be so relieved. You’ve taught me a lesson. I’m going to start backing up my photos and files right away. Thanks.
