Ok. Yes before you even say something to me, I succumbed to the draw of a new project. But in my defense, I ordered the fabric for it before I made my goal of no new projects until 3 UFOs were completed. Plus, I can blame it on the “Strip Challenge” that Hanne made me do by twisting my arm challenged us to.
But look, didn’t this turn out CUTE??
I cut up my fabric from my thousands of bolts order from yesterday into 26 - 2 1/2″ strips (what the project calls for) and didn’t want them to be messed up waiting on me to really start - so I put them in a “Jelly Roll”. It looks sumptuous!! Now you will just have to wait until I get the project going to see what it will be.
In other news - I completed two more Prairie Paisley blocks.
I also made a “Map Not to Scale” block. I think I am going to abandon this one. It is too much and mostly applique - Maybe Brit would want what I have left… It is time to get rid of this project. What is left is applique, the nasty “A” word. I wouldn’t be so bad if it was not 6″ blocks that they tried to cram a lot into. Yes, the block below is really THAT wonky.
Also, guess what? I have been not wanting to sandwich the Irish chain quilt because I figured piecing the back would be a bear. I finally decided to drag it down last night so that I could sandwich it later today. Well… I had forgotten, I had already sandwiched it. DUH!!!! So one more thing off my list.

had to chuckle at your duh moment…it’s something I would do!
Your roll does look sumptuous! I’m going to dig through my scrap basket and start cutting 2.5″ for the challenge!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the jelly roll! And as far as the DUH moment–join the club! I am sure I am the queen of those moments!
(will let you know what free time I have about his toime next week! Am hoping we can at least for a drink!)
maybe she would..she’ll look at her stack of unfinished shop hop blocks this weekend and get back to yo *grin*
Toni… I wouldn’t normally cut my own jelly roll, but the project called for ONLY 26 strips… hmm… don’t want to waste the other 14 that come in a jelly roll, so I made my own for the project.
Irene, thank you. I just love the fabric.. I can’t wait to start that project.
Brit… I would be happy to send the WA fabric and all the kits (with finishing kits) that I bought. I don’t think thta I went to any of the same shops as you that year.
Home made jelly rolls - looks yummy!!!!
Thank you Helen… I might even make a few more…
Will you please do a tutorial on how to wrap the stips into the jelly roll? I’m sure there are others that would like to know how to do it as well. Just happenen on your blog tonight and I really like it. I will be coming back!!
Thanks
Redtosew… I will work on one soon, but it is basically just stack the strips on top of each other, start rolling from the selvage end. As you roll, kind of spread the fabric to keep it from bunching. Once you are done rolling, it will have the spaces in between - then you just tie it off. I hope this helps.
