A Wasted Day

Yesterday I was in the mood for quilting. I was planning on getting a quilt quilted and maybe possibly one sandwiched. That was the plan anyway.

When my husband is home, he plays his game (World of Warcraft) and I hate to hear the sounds of it. So what do I do? I put my Ipod on and drown out his noise. Well… I go to put it on and it wasn’t in its normal place:

I looked around closely and all I could see was the ear buds - not in the place that they are put by themselves. This was not good, because I always wrap the buds around my Ipod when I am done with it. If I am putting it on the charger or one of the two docks, I put the ear buds on my cork board hanging around a pushpin so they don’t get lost:

So I look around and my room was a bit of a disaster. I had fabric piled everywhere and books and such. It could be under there. So I fold all the fabric and put everything away. My daughter says my niece was in the den when they were over this past weekend, but I didn’t see them in there and her story was inconsistent. That prompted me to look in places I would not normally look for it. Thinking it might have gotten put somewhere else (project box, etc). I even went upstairs and went into my daughter’s room and went through all her toys.

Still no Ipod. I am getting upset now. I have spent 4 hours looking for my Ipod. I go through EVERYTHING again. Just in case. Or so I thought.

I finally get my husband off his game and ask him to help me - I am getting frustrated and mad. He asked me if I looked in EVERYTHING under my desk. I told him the only thing I didn’t look in was this old letter file that sits under my desk because I can’t bear to get rid of it, but have no idea what to do with it. I thought there was no way it could have gotten into there.

That is where it was. At least it was found. Even if I wasted my whole afternoon to find it. By the time I found it (or my husband found it rather), it needed a charge and I was exhausted from going through all my stuff. I just went to bed then.

In other news, Darlene wanted to know how we store our patterns. Since I was in the den taking photos, I thought I would show you.

This is a basket that is the perfect width and length for my patterns and it holds quite a few (maybe not a squillion like she has though). I probably will cull some of the patterns that I will never make when I need room. But for now… it is fine for me.

  1. Any idea how the iPod ended up in the file?

  2. I *hate* when I lose my iPod! Or when I am at work and it is at home. :( And I store my patterns in a wicker basket and my magazines in a separate basket now, too! :)

  3. found you through quilting bloggers…what an awesome blog you have! just wanted to thank you for the patterns…i downloaded winter blues and can’t wait to make it…thank you again…=)

  4. Glad you found it. I know how frustrated I get when I can’t find things that I know I had put in a certain spot.

  5. Paula, I don’t have any clue how it ended up there. Probably little hands though - probably my daughter’s.

  6. Jill, since I don’t work, I don’t have that problem… just sticky little hands.

  7. Terri - thank yo for a great comment. Be sure to show your quilt when you are done… I would love to see it.

  8. Suzette, all sorts of horrible scenarios were going through my head as I was looking for it… trash can (which has been picked up already), washing machine… I guess I need to have a better spot for it.

  9. Sometimes a real search is a turning point - to find good solutions to storing and fixed spots to put things.
I can really relate to the lost thing panic - I hate it when I don’t find what I am looking for.
I am glad you found your what you were looking for :-)

  10. Hanne, thank you…
