Paula - If the method Joan posted about doesn't work, I will look into getting some different clamps.

Tami - I have floor space, but I really don't want to get down on the floor to baste. I think I might try Joan's method that she posed about below.

I just tried something new this weekend and it seemed to work pretty well, just need a little practice. It's a technique by Sharon Schamber and there's a video (two part) on youtube (http://bit.ly/andsYo). She's hand basting but it will work for pins or in my case, the microtack gun.

I have a floor frame for hand quilting set up in my basement. I really only use it for pin basting. I roll everything onto the frame as if I was going to quilt it and then just pin away. I also have one of those older banquet tables set up down there to use for smaller quilts. I bought some super orange handled clamps at a DIY store that fit over the thick edges since my bulldog clamps would not open wide enough.

I have the same problem with sandwiching. Since we moved I also have the added problem of not having floor space really big enough unless I move a ton of furniture. Let me know if you come up with anything. I would love a new plan.
