State of the Stash – Week 9

Yea… Another week of not doing anything but purchasing.

Week 9
Purchased:

    Moda Bella Cream    3
    Flannel 108" wide        3
    Week Total                  6
    YTD Total                    39.5

Used :
Week Total    0

YTD Total    28.25

The only reason I bought the Moda was I only needed $10 more for free shipping when I bought the flannel that I needed for a design wall.  If I hadn’t have bought the moda bella, the shipping would have been almost $10.  So it was like I got the moda bella free.

Flahsback Friday – Just Charming

DSCF1002This quilt was my first attempt at machine appliqué.  It was a very simple pattern and the person who designed it alludes me at the moment.  I tried to do an internet search but do you know how many quilts come up with “Just Charming” as the title?  If anyone knows or remembers who did this free quilt pattern on her blog, could you please comment so I can give proper credit to the designer?  Thanks!

I completed this little quilt 7/7/09.

Updated.  I found out that I could scroll back to all my feeds from my old blog on Google Reader and found the post where I posted about it.  Whew!

The pattern is called “Charmed” by Anka’s treasures and can be found on Heather Mulder Peterson’s blog here.

Joen Wolfrom

HQG February meeting 002Joen Wolfrom was at my guild on Monday night.  Her lecture was very informative and insightful.  I will admit some of it eluded me when she was talking about it, but the next morning driving around looking at the colors in nature, it was like BOOM!  Where I saw the light hitting the grass and dew, and then where the shadows added black her explanations clicked.  I also saw the effect on the mountains through a golf course screen and it showed me the difference when adding different amounts of grey when I saw them without, with one and two layers of screen.

I really want to get her 3-in-1 color tool.

and possibly a few of her books:

Normally I wouldn’t solicit for gifts, but I definitely wouldn’t turn any of these down!  Though I am known for making jelly roll/charm square/etc. type quilts.  I would really love to branch out my skills and possibly delve into some more color-study quilts.

Fabric Organizers

In an effort to contain the clutter in my sewing room, I bought some fabric organizers.  I will have to say these are neat.  I bought 40 to begin with.  I probably need another 50 or so.

Once I do that, I will probably organize it a little more and sort by type/project.

I have some more things to do in the room before I feel I am comfortable enough to share photos of it.  But it is shaping up nicely :)
