Flashback Friday – Weedwhacker Star

100_2204

This quilt, Weedwhacker Star, I made based on Bonnie Hunter’s Weed whacker pattern.  I made it for my daughter.  The top has been completed for a while – since November 2007.  Part of my reluctance to quilt it is that my daughter still takes markers to her room and colors things that shouldn’t be colored with markers.  The other part of my reluctance is how to quilt it  to make it shine. This was my first truly scrappy quilt.  I used a bunch of purple strips that I swapped with others on an online quilting forum that I belonged to years ago.

Wow, you are right, this is just beautiful! I love how you placed the fabrics to really get that pinwheel look.

Jackie – thank you. It pretty much came from not having enough purple strips of the right width to make the size of quilt that I wanted to make. But I do love this quilt.

You know, I’m not at all fond of the weed whacker pattern but I really like what you did with it!
