Birthday Gifts

Last Saturday, the 10th, was my birthday.  I celebrated by having a sewing bee with all my girlfriends and sewing the day away.  A lot of us stayed from 9am to 11pm.

Though I wasn’t expecting anyone to bring me gifts, a lot of the gals did (and my lunch (Thanks Joan!) and dinner (Thanks Noelle) were bought by others).  It was the best birthday ever.  My husband was a bit miffed that I wanted to spend the day out, but it was exactly what I wanted to do on that day – sew the day away.

Gift from Kristin

This gift was from Kristin.  Isn’t it the most darling thing ever??  I absolutely love the pins in it.

Lila's Gift

I got some glo-line from Lila.  I had asked everyone the day before if someone could loan me about 5” of it for a project because I couldn’t find my three rolls that I had- so she got me some.

Serena's Gift

This came from Serena, a fat quarter set and a candy lei.  She also brought a YUMMY cake that was beautiful that I forgot to take a photo of.

This came from Linda S.  Some very pretty batiks in a Jelly roll!  I think I am going to make a Pineapple Blossom with it.

Isn’t this the cutest card ever???  Susan gave it to me and said she had it for a while and then never could figure out who to give it to until she started calling me “The Queen Bee” since I host a monthly quilting bee.

Susan's Gift

Susan also gave me some green charm squares in the cutest bag.

Susan also made me a cake.  With HOMEMADE chocolate icing.  I have never had that before and oh my it was yummy!

Ellen handed these to me and said “oh this is nothing special.  Well, Ellen, I broke a needle not an hour later and didn’t bring any with me.  So yes, it was a perfect gift!  Love the box it came in!

Tahmi gave me some cute green fabs knowing that my favorite color is green.

Connie brought me this paper lei.  Oh my goodness it is beautiful!

I forgot to take a photo of the cute little coin purse Roxy made.  I love it because my money floated around my purse and now I can keep it corralled.

This wasn’t a birthday gift, but a “thank you” gift from Carrol for helping her with a digital graphic.  Isn’t these just darling?

Lastly,  my husband got me the large one of these "(6’ x 6’):

It was just ordered today and may take a while to get here (the slow boat to Hawaii, ya know).  But I am excited about it.

Hope you have a great day!

Emma’s Legacy Top Done

100_5167

Last Saturday (has it really been a week already??!!??), I finished my Emma’s Legacy top.  It is not like the pattern from Miss Rosie’s Quilt company that it is based from.  For one, the outer border is a piano key border and not a solid fabric.  Second, there is only inner and outer borders on three sides – the top will be a pillow tuck and then just drop on the sides and bottom.  Lastly, the diamonds are going side to side vs. up and down from the pattern.

Emma’s Legacy Sneak Peak

Here is a peak of my Emma’s Legacy quilt (pattern by Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company).  I have only one more piano key border to make and then I will be done with the top.

I won’t be able to take a picture until Saturday’s bee since I will need major help holding it up for a photo…  it is slightly larger than a queen-sized quilt – approximately 96” x 112”.  It has enough for a pillow tuck plus a 8+” drop from the mattress edge.

Yes, this one is for MY bed.  I am going to order backing fabric and have it quilted by my friend Susan.  VERY soon.  I want to be sleeping under it by no later than July.  Maybe then I can persuade my husband we need a new bed.

The fabric in the top is Sultry by Basic Grey (Moda).  I got the Fat Quarter bundle for Mother’s day last year and then ordered some honey buns to make the piano key border.

I would love help with naming the quilt though.  Emma’s Legacy was the pattern I based the quilt off (making some changes, of course) and the only Emma I know is a pug.  Any ideas?

Hearth & Home BOM – Month 1, Block 2

 hearth & home 001

Yea!  I just got these in the mail yesterday and they are already completed for the month!  I have also found that I should just redraw these in EQ and then print the templates to match up with my Marti Michell templates and not use their directions.  I tend to do much better with my own way of doing this than following other’s directions.

On to another project today – can I get caught up with my 2009 designer mystery bom?  We shall see.
