I used Nicole’s Napkin tutorial to make the napkins.  I love them how they end up quite large, and very sturdy.  My MIL has several things with a chili pepper motif, so this fabric that I bought years ago to make her something worked really well.  The edging/background fabric (green, red, black) is Moda Bella – I just love that fabric!!  There is a set of six napkins.

I also made a set of six placemats:

I just used the fabric and backed them with Moda Bella in black. I had found at Missouri Quilt Company, some Moda Bella bias binding already pre-cut/pressed, etc on a roll so that all you have to do is go.  I don’t know if I would do it for every project that it calls for, but it was nice to just get going on the project.  I bought about 15 yards of binding and have about half of it left.

I made my first Shcnibble for “Another Year of Scnibbles” parade.

But,  I made it bigger.  I used the generalness of the pattern and made it bigger because I needed a baby quilt FAST! This seemed like it would be a great one to do.  I also had only three prints and the quilt is for a boy.  I would like to make this again in a smaller version – especially now that I  have both of the “fit to be geese” rulers.

Here is some fat quarters from my friend Janie – I love the limes… a play on my favorite color “lime” green.. haha!  She also gave me some lime green masterpiece thread (I forgot to take a photo of it) and made the most awesome brownies… she can bake for me anytime!

Here is some fabric from Bev – I collect the Hula Girls!  I have note paper, coffee mugs, etc in that same design. It is funny because she didn’t know I collected them.

Though these weren’t technically a birthday gift, JoAnne brought these (among other fabrics) for a freebie table; Bev picked them up and said that I was the one that needed the lime greens…

Sylvia gave me this great keychain lanyard.  It is on my keychain and helping me find my keys a bit easier in my purse!

Maureen made me this bear out of this great green batik.  She also made Red Velvet Cream Cheese brownies and Red Velvet cupcakes… which is my favorite cake…

Roxy made me this great rubbish catcher that sits under my sewing machine… it is made out of that laminated fabric… really cool!

Connie brought the pink tulips and Lily brought the yellow tulips.  Though I have a black thumb, I am going to try really hard not to kill them.

Serena gave me this great kit for a batik table runner.  I can’t wait to put it on my “to do” list!

Bonnie and Elaine gave me the above scissors and card pouch; they wouldn’t tell me who did what… but I love both!

Ellen gave me these four lime batik fat quarters… yummy!

Thank you everyone for making my birthday (party) very special – even though we didn’t get to sew all day and night.  Maybe this summer we can make it up.

Thanks to my neighbor Amy who rescued them from my porch and gave them a safe place to stay until I could get home.

I have been working on my challenge quilt.  I really need to get it finished.  I also have to do two Operation Kid comfort quilts.  I haven’t even started on them.  Today, the only time I spent any time in my sewing room was when I was on the phone with my oldest sister.

Saturday, I will be sewing with a bunch of friends at my monthly bee.  I have been looking forward to it!

I think I have to get backing for this one.  I may be able to find something in the stash though.

I know it has been a while since I posted.  Part of the reason I was soo tired from getting all the tsunami quilts done.  Part of the reason is that when I have been sewing, I have been working on some secret projects that I can’t talk about right now.  Hopefully soon, I can get those done and work on things that I can talk about.  Some of them are gifts, so when they are given, I will post about them.

At last… time to reveal this project!  The recipient has gotten the quilt and she sure looks adorable on top of the quilt!

I made this quilt for my oldest sister’s first grand daughter.  She is about three months old now.

Seeing this photo of her, she looks just like her daddy!!

The lime green is perfect and actually a shade I was looking for for a project!!  How fortuitous!  The button pins are just too cute!  I love them!  Thank you!

I figured I would show you my favorite frog image:

It is a photo of my (only) tattoo.  I got it when I was 32 or 33 (I can’t remember which right now – there was a whole year I thought I was a year younger than I was and boy did I get a shock when I aged two years on my birthday instead of one…lol).

Yep… that is a tree frog sitting on a peach.  Not a natural occurrence, I know.

A little history about it.  In late 1995, my husband and I traveled to Oregon with his family for a wedding. Afterwards, we stayed for a week and visited Seattle too.  Somewhere along the way, we went to a mall and one of the shops was selling silver animal lapel pins, etc.  He purchased me a tree frog.  We hadn’t been married more than 8 months at the time (and that whole time he was overseas on a separation tour and he was home on leave for this trip).  That started my love affair with tree frogs.

Fast forward about a year and he comes home from the separation tour and we move to Georgia.  It is my first time away from “home”.  We get a computer and I have to create an online identity.  “Peach” pops into my head.  I was always saying “I am peachy” when someone asks me how I was doing long before we moved to Georgia.  Of course, peach, gapeach, and several variations were already taken.  BUT – comppeach was not.  It was short for “ComputerPeach” – because in those days AOL limited characters on screen names.

Four years later, he has to go on another separation tour, but luckily he is allowed to stay for the birth of our son and until he was a month old.  I stay in Georgia until our son is 8 months old and then I just have to move back home.  I move in with my grandmother and that is when I learn how to quilt… in the summer of 2000.

I was still computerpeach for a lot of things, but I wanted to include my quilting aspect now.  “Peach Quilting” was born.  That was the name of my pattern company that I tried to start.  One day, it may go again.  When I switched my domain name (I don’t want to lose it!!) from a website selling patterns, to just a blog – I had to choose a name for the blog.  It was going to be “A Stitch in Time” – but that seemed so cliché.  Then I started playing around with it and it became “A Peach in Stitches”. 

When I was asked with a friend to go with her to get a tattoo and she made an appointment for me too, I was thinking about what I wanted.  I didn’t want something that would be a copy of someone else’s.  If I was to get a tattoo, it was to be original.  Since it was permanent, it was to be something that meant something to me.

I played around in photoshop (or the like) and combined two images that I loved.  I am very happy I got the tattoo.  It is something that represents me.  It is unique, like me.  Would I ever get another… yes.  I want another, but the conditions have to be right.  What would I get?  I want a quilt block on my shoulder blade.  Not just any artist can do it… it is permanent… I want it to look good.

My dear husband came home from work today carrying this. It states” Thank you for being there all these years…”

He was a little upset with me though.  I have a standing “appointment” on the second Tuesday of the month (oddly enough named… 2nd Tuesday Bee).  Sunday, Max was asking me what my plans were for the day and I said that I had the bee and that I would be gone most of the morning.  He had planned for them to be delivered and there were only two windows, both of which I would have been gone for various reasons – sometimes a stay at home mom doesn’t stay at home all day. He had to brave the Navy Exchange on a holiday – AND a payday to boot to pick them up.  Thanks love!
