Here is Month 11 – I just noticed that one border is wrong…

Why haven’t I done it?  After I sandwiched the four tops last week, I quilted three of them, including Sparkling Gemstones, which was my UFO for April.  While I had the tables set up, I had decided I would quilt all six tops I had sandwiched – which are: Sparkling Gemstones, Bali Pop Quilt, Summer Day, Autumn Star Struck, Star Crazy, and Paris in the Fall.  So I will be quilting all of them and putting binding on all of them while the extra table is set up in my sewing room.

Currently, Star Crazy, is under the needle; May’s UFO.

First up was Sparkling Gemstones, my April UFO.  I know… I am running a bit late on this one.  Especially since all I had to do was piece a backing, sandwich, and quilt it.

Since I had the table and boards out, I figured I should get a few others done.

Autumn Star Struck came out to play and get sandwiched.

The new schnibble, Summer Day, got sandwiched too.  I really love the way the two reds look when they are together.  It is a good thing to get this one sandwiched, since the baby was born and is now home from the hospital.

Last of all, my Bali Pop Quilt got sandwiched.  As you can see, a young Mel Gibson is on the TV.  Lethal Weapon (1) was on and I had it on in the background while I was sandwiching.  I usually have music on my ipad on playing on Pandora through my dock, but I was in the mood for a tv show.  Something I didn’t have to watch constantly; something I have seen many times.  Lethal Weapon fit the bill. 

I now have a stack of 6 quilts to quilt that are sandwiched and ready to go.  I hope I can get them done soon.

I made my first Shcnibble for “Another Year of Scnibbles” parade.

But,  I made it bigger.  I used the generalness of the pattern and made it bigger because I needed a baby quilt FAST! This seemed like it would be a great one to do.  I also had only three prints and the quilt is for a boy.  I would like to make this again in a smaller version – especially now that I  have both of the “fit to be geese” rulers.

They were screaming to be made into the new mystery from Temecula Quilt Co.

They have a new mystery that each step will be posted each Thursday in March. 

The blocks end up at 4” finished and the little quilt will be 18” finished.  Here is my first block:

Only 3 more blocks to go for this mystery.  I have already signed up for the one that starts in June of 2012.  I have done all but one of the Designer Mysteries offered by The Fat Quarter Shop – 2010… and I kind of regretted not doing it, but at the time I still had two that I hadn’t completed the tops for and they were Christmas Mysteries too. 

Now I am off to go catch up on my Love Letters BOM blocks.  Another one (month 5) will be in the mail any day now, and I have yet to finish month 3. 

This brings my total up to 40 blocks.  I have 5 more to make.  Once I am done, I will take them and set the best ones into a layout.

I used to purchase only fabric to go with a certain project.  After the project was done, I couldn’t stand looking at the fabrics anymore so I gave them away/sold them.  Sometimes it was YARDAGE that was leftover.

Now I have a shelf just for fabrics to “play” with.  That is the whole purpose of those fabrics.  Maybe afterI get my next box of fabric in I will share with you my secret… but you have to promise you won’t buy out the store and leave some for me… ok?

Anyway… back to showing the latest tsunami tops – the camera’s flash washed out some of the photos.

At next month’s guild meeting the person in charge of sending and distributing these little quilts to Japan will be at our meeting.  I hope to have a BUNCH ready to send back with her.  Our guild has sent 99 quilts prior to the February meeting.  There looked to be about 20-30 more collected at that meeting. 

I hope that these will brighten the lives of the recipients, some who have been transplanted with nothing.  

Now for the request for help – I would like more quilts from others!

If you are interested in sending some little quilts – they are only 12” (and can be as simple or as complicated as you want).  If you have orphan quilt blocks you can use them too!  Just quilt them up, bind them and add two hangers (can be loops, etc) and send them to me – the only caveat is they have to be sent to me via priority mail (but a flat rate envelope/box will be fine) so they will get here in time since if you send parcel post it will take a month to get here.  If you plan on sending something,comment and  I will send you the address to send them to.

Spread the word too please!  I would like to have all the quilts in my hands by no later than  March 24th.

These blocks were from a “Patchwork Party” a few years ago.  I think we were still living in WA state at the time.I have all the blocks completed, which is great.

What I have yet to do on this:

• Design a setting.  I am not so keen on the design I chose for it, so I want to come up with something for it that utilizes what fabric I have. 
• Piece the quilt top.

All I have slated to do for the UFO is get it to flimsy status. But if I get a chance to sandwich and quilt it, I will to get it completely off my shelf.
