This was the view when we stepped out onto the lanai.  Just gorgeous.  I can’t wait to go back to retreat. I forgot to take a picture of the area that we were in.

I forgot my sewing machine.  Luckily my husband brought it up to me the next morning.  Because of that I was able to get 11 bindings prepped for when the quilts are quilted.

This is Noelle.  She got four of these pineapple pillowcases made for a gift.  She even put cording around them and a zipper.  Wow.  I would have never gotten even one done.

This was Carla’s second project she was working on.  Lovely purples and such.

Lara worked on this quilt.  She was in another of the cabins. 

Rowena worked on her quilt from Joen Wolfram’s Fantasia class she took last month.

Jean worked on this quilt.  She was in another cabin.

Sue worked on this quilt for her husband’s retirement.

Stacy – the one in the green – worked on several little projects.  I couldn’t take a picture fast enough to get  some of the things she was working on.

Stacy’s mom worked on this Yellow Brick Road in aloha prints.  She was visiting Stacy so they came to retreat together. 

Susan worked on this commission piece.  It was darling.  A lady hired her to take all the baby’s 1-year old clothes and put them in a quilt.  She saved parts with pockets, buttons, etc.  She has to add borders on it.

Susan also made this little wall hanging.  She has a pull-out pantry shelf.  In Hawaii, the houses are so small you have to get inventive with your storage.  The pantry shelves are set in and rolls out to give access.  She made this to go on the end.

Our friend Sue’s husband will be retiring next month and she will be going back to the mainland.  Our bee (The Sassy S&B Pin-up Quilters) makes a quilt for those who move away since a good portion of the original members were military spouses and it would be inevitable that they moved (unless you were like Stacy and you just bought a house here and retired here).  Our quilt for Sue had to be a Sunbonnet Sue quilt.  Each of us made a block for the quilt.  Some of us even personalized them even more to make them more like ourselves.

Since I can now show it – this is the block I made for her quilt.  She is absolutely in love with Disney – so I made her disney balloons.  I am also known for always wearing lime green, slippahs, and shorts.  I also had to put my peach tattoo on the girl. 

I just couldn’t pass this one up though…

I just can’t seem to stay away from that site, and whenever I do, I always order something.

I got a lot done this last weekend at retreat.  Mostly,I prepped bindings the first day.  I forgot my sewing machine so I got everything cut and pressed.  Carla let me use her machevery once in a while so I could finish them.

Max brought me my machine the second day so I finished the bindings and then worked on my Emma’s legacy strips sewn together.  Today I got one block from my Designer Mystery 2009 done.  We didn’t have a lot of time to sew so I didn’t get much done.

I will post photos this week from retreat.

Ok.  I may seem a bit ambitious, but this is way more time than I normally get to quilt in one week – and no kids and food prep to boot.  I will see you guys later!

I have decided to do this.  It will help me bust some stash and seems simple enough to get a couple of blocks done each month.  Plus, I can’t seem to say no to a new project.  The first block was posted yesterday.  If you want to join, click the above picture and you can make your own block.  I am sure you have an extra jelly roll (or two) that is sitting around waiting on you to use it.

Here is my first block.  I am using Kashmir III fabric.

I am trying to decide if I want to make a second using my Mary Englebriet Christmas Jelly Roll.  Stay Tuned for that decision.  :)

WRONG.

January I had the problem of not being able to sandwich a quilt.  It was a good excuse.  I didn’t want to damage my new dining room table.  Then my friend Joan came to my rescue and sent me a video on a new method. I will admit that I was interested, so about midway through the month, I finally got around to going to the hardware store for some boards.

I tried it and liked it.  It was SO easy to sandwich a quilt.  I did change the method up just a little to suit me better.  I drew a line on the board at the halfway point.  I then marked the center point on each end of the quilt with masking tape.  I also taped down the first edge so that it was easier to roll up. 

I managed to get three quilts sandwiched in two days.  A record for me.

I even started to quilt one.  But it wasn’t one on my UFO listing to the right.  It was one from my list way back in January.  Oh well.  I still have March, right?  It shouldn’t be hard to quilt a bunch of quilts this month, right?  Considering I still have to sandwich two of them?  Do you think I can do it?

The only reason I bought the Moda was I only needed $10 more for free shipping when I bought the flannel that I needed for a design wall.  If I hadn’t have bought the moda bella, the shipping would have been almost $10.  So it was like I got the moda bella free.

I completed this little quilt 7/7/09.

Updated.  I found out that I could scroll back to all my feeds from my old blog on Google Reader and found the post where I posted about it.  Whew!
