Neptune’s Quilt

Yesterday, I had an all-day bee with my girlfriends. The main thing I worked on was my Neptune Quilt. I used charm squares and a honey bun to make this quilt. All the blocks were together, and half of the blocks were in the top when I started, but with talking and laughing and eating, It took me most of the day to finish the top. I blame it on the piano key border. That was a lot of little piano keys (60-ish each side) to sew together. I do love the way the top came together though.

15 Years ago Today

I married my best friend & high school sweetheart.  Together we have dealt with deployments, moves around the country and two wonderful kids.  Without him, I probably would have never seen Georgia, Colorado, Washington, and now Hawaii.

Happy Anniversary My Love!

UFO Challenge Report

Um… yea.  It didn’t work for me.  I wanted to do it.  But I have been having troubles trying to sandwich things lately.  I don’t know how to do it now that I have a new table that I don’t want to use for sandwiching.  As far as I got was getting the backing pieced.  I did attempt to sandwich it.  I ended up taking out everything because it was so bunched up in the back that I wouldn’t have gotten very far without having to rip it out because of a puckered backing.  That will be something I will be working on during this first week of February.

The new challenge for February is #7 which for me is my Yellow Brick Road aka – Triple Scoop.

January Goals Revisited

How did I do on my January goals?

  • Opportunity Quilt – 6 blocks - I did part of them and handed them over to the Chair for this project to complete.
  • Friendship Braid – Piece Backing – Completed!
  • Simply Sophisticated – Two Blocks - Completed not only the two blocks that I wanted to do, but finished the top.
  • Sweet Treasures – Two Blocks – yea… didn’t get to this one
  • Friendship Braid – Bind – nope
  • Friendship Braid – Quilt – nope
  • Friendship Braid – Sandwich - nope, I am having problems sandwiching now that I have a new dining room table.
  • Pastel Lucky Stars – Complete Binding – yes, this was done
  • Home for the Holidays – Piece Backing - yes, this one got completed
  • Home for the Holidays – Sandwich - again, nope because of the problems with sandwiching things
  • Home for the Holidays – Quilt - nope
  • Home for the Holidays – Bind - nope

All in all a productive month, but some things I really wanted to do didn’t get accomplished.  I do need to find a way to sandwich my quilts without having to put them on the floor.  I used to put them on my kitchen table and clamp the layers to the table and then pin.  I got a new dining room table at the first part of the year and now I don’t want to mess it up at all.    I tried to use my table in my sewing area, but I can’t clamp to it because the table is too thick.

I hope you had a productive month too!
